Indian media on Virat Kohli fitness regime, Kohli’s Diet & Workout Plan – India vs South Africa 2018
The Indian cricket team captain who batted for 49 overs in the 3rd ODI of the six-match series against South Africa at Newlands, Cape Town revealed his fitness regime and diet plan after guiding the team to a 124-run win. Talking to media, Kohli said that he is going to be 30 this year and in order to extend the quality of cricket he is playing, he needs to stay fit. “I want to be able to play this kind of cricket even when I am 34-35. You know, that’s why I train so much because I am a guy who likes to play with intensity. Once that is gone, I don’t know what I am gonna do on the field,” the Indian skipper said.
Kohli added that in order to protect that, he trains as hard as possible and tries to keep a check on his diet. The Indian skipper who smashed his 34th ODI century and became the first Indian batsman to score 100 runs in an inning by running between the wickets, said that on days like these, all the restrictions of diet and fitness, pay off. “These are kind of days that give you satisfaction as a batsman and as a Team India player. So, I am happy to contribute to the mood that’s there in the changing room right now,” added the Indian cricket team skipper, who does not believe in having a cheat day.
Recently, Virat Kohli had appeared on Breakfast with Champions, hosted by Gaurav Kapur and had talked about his diet plan in detail. Here is Virat Kohli’s diet plan:
Omelette (3 egg whites and 1 whole egg), Spinach, black pepper and Cheese.
He prefers some grilled bacon or smoked salmon.
Fruits: Watermelon and Papaya
Virat also eats cheese for some good fats. He carries nut butter and Gluten free bread for net sessions.
He consumes 3-4 cups of green tea with lemon.
Virat takes Grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, green vegetables, spinach and according to the requirements, the 29-year-old adds red meat to his lunch.
For the final meal of the day, Virat restricts himself to seafood which is either boiled or grilled.
“When our trainer Mr Basu tells me to put on a bit of muscle, then I increase red meat, otherwise generally for lunch, it is grilled chicken and mashed potatoes, spinach and veggies and for dinner its seafood,” Kohli had said.
The Indian skipper has 34 ODI centuries to his name now and is only behind Sachin Tendulkar on the list of most ODI centuries. While Tendulkar finished his ODI career with 49 tons from 463 matches, Kohli has hit 34 in just 205 matches.
